Frown lines, crow's feet and other facial wrinkles often make a person look older and more tired than they actually feel inside.
Botox®, a purified form of botulinum toxin, which is approved by the FDA, is an excellent way to treat facial wrinkles. These wrinkles are caused by contraction of the underlying muscles.
Botox®
relaxes the muscels, therefore; the skin will not show a lot of wrinkles when the muscle is contracted.
Botox®
inhibits nerve signals that cause the muscles to contract.

By selectively relaxing some muscles and not relaxing other muscles, Dr. Yousefi can achieve a more lifted look for the eyebrows and eyes. It is imperative to know the anatomy and have a great knowledge of muscle functions in order to create results that are natural and beautiful. Most of our patients worry about a mask like look and prefer a more natural look.

Technique - Botox® Injections |
|
To remove these wrinkles, Botox®
is
injected through a very small needle in minute amounts into
the muscles that cause these contractions.
Dr. Yousefi will meet with you personally and will do all of the consultations himself. Our philosophy is to listen to your concerns first, do a thorough history and physical examination, and then create a plan to achieve what you have been wanting for years.
During the procedure, Dr. Yousefi will ask you to make various expressions - such as frowns and squints - in order to locate the contraction points in your forehead or around your eyes. Then, Dr. Yousefi will inject these
precise points with Botox. The muscles will relax within a week and you will look rested and refreshed.
Botox®
temporarily relaxes those injected muscles, and in order to maintain the results, this treatment may be repeated every three to six months.

Botox®
temporarily paralyzes muscles; to
maintain results a patient must receive treatment every three
to four months. To date there is no evidence that continuing Botox®
treatment destroys muscles - but it has been found that
the length of time that Botox®
is effective lengthens with
repeated treatments.

Recovery Time |
|
The Botox®
treatment is performed in 5 to 10 minutes in our office. There is no recovery time and the procedure can easily be performed during the lunch hour. This procedure does not require the patient to take time off for recovery. The peak of the result usually is seen in two weeks, therefore; Dr. Yousefi recommends to do the Botox about 10 days before your big events.
